DEVELOPMENT
Most of us at some point in our lives have had something strange or weird happen whether it is seeing a full blown vision of a spirit or a psychic dream. The most common of all knowing who is calling when the phone rings. So how do we develop these skills any further??
WE FIRST NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PSYCHIC AND A MEDIUM…..
A psychic is someone who has developed the skill of receiving information by using their intuition and/or picking up vibrations by reading the energy around a person or object through various means such as tarot, runes, etc. You are then able to pick up residual energy to get psychic information. Residual energy is stored energy such as in the atmosphere, buildings, objects, etc. It’s like a recorded energy of all things that have happened rather like a video or tape recording. A good example of reading residual energy is psychometry.
A medium is someone who has developed the skill of receiving information directly from a spirit, communicating directly with those who have passed into the spirit world. Spirits can intervene during a psychic reading and psychic information can come through while communicating with spirit.
WHEN DEVELOPING OUR ABILITIES WE MUST FIRST UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE!!!!!
CLAIRVOYANCE: If you’re a visual person who thinks in pictures and whose language is visually oriented, then it is most likely you will receive information visually. For example, when you describe something you talk about the visual elements rather than the sounds or smells. Clairvoyants may also work as artists. They tend to describe in “seeing” things.
CLAIRAUDIENCE: If you’re a good listener, have an ear for music, or notice noise more then you’re an auditory person. Clairaudience people often tend to think in words and loud thoughts kind of like when you mentally talk to your self. This often works in trance mediums, transmitting the voice from the spirit of a person, or automatic writing,.
CLAIRSENTIENCE: If you tend to respond to life emotionally, you seem to know things, feel things, the gut instinct so to speak, feel the pain and emotion of others, then you can easily develop this.

I think I'm a clairaudience. I must test this.

I know, it's hard to figure out what we have but if you identify with one or several things make that the focus. The exercises are great.
I will practice too and post my results.
Blessings hun!

Maybe I can help explain these psychic senses from my own understanding ... I've been helping others with this for a few years.
We have 5 senses that we learn about early in life ... the sense of touch, taste, smell, hearing, and seeing. These are senses that most of us take for granted because they have always been there.
We also have 6 psychic senses. These are the senses that aren't always automatic. Many feel that they have been programmed out of us by the time we are adults because as children we are told that these things are our "imagination". They can't always be validated immediately like our physical senses, so they don't exist right? Wrong! lol
The four main psychic senses are Clairvoyance, Clairaudience, Clairsentience, and Claircognizance:
People who are Clairvoyant tend to get their psychic information through visions that they have. They can "see" images in their mind ... or they can even see parts of events in their mind (kind of like dreaming, day dreaming, or even watching a movie).
People who are Clairaudient actually hear voices of spirits or guides, words, whole or partial sentences, tones, music, sounds, etc ... that are out of the range of "normal" hearing.
People who are Clairsentient receive psychic information through actual physical feelings or emotions. They can get a gut "feeling" about something, or get cold chills everytime someone says something true, feel other people's pain and/or emotions, etc...
People who are Claircognizent just "know" things. Thoughts "pop" into their minds about upcoming events, or if someone isn't being truthful, ect ... and it is different than their normal thoughts. They know it didn't come from their normal thinking and is important.
Two less common psychic senses are Clairgusant and Clariscentrist.
Clairgustants can actually taste things without putting anything in their mouth.
Clariscentrists smell things that aren't actually physically around them.
The first psychic sense to develop, and the most common is usually clairsentience.
Some people are born more naturally clairvoyant, or clairaudial, or clairsentient, or claircognizent. Or any combination of these. That just means they won't have to work as hard at developing those psychic senses as others might have to.
Everyone can work on all of these abilities to develop them. It is possible to have all these senses to some degree.
I often compare these abilities to drawing. Some people seem to be born with the natural ability to draw. Does that mean that only the people born with the natural ability can draw? Not at all. Everyone can draw, you just have to be willing to work at it and practice, practice, practice!
I need to look this up, but there is the ability to pick up impressions or receive information by touching objects. I know it's called Psychometry ... but I'm not sure exactly what that would be filed under ... anyone else know?
I hope this helps.

Thanks MistyLady! I finally heard one that I completely related to...claircognizent (or was it zant? lol). My claircognizence has been growing, most especially since I was attuned to reiki level 3 (reiki master). It's been pretty amazing. I'm also a bit clairaudient (and that's growing as well), and clairsentinent. They're all developing, actually.
Thanks to both you and CV for the terms and their meanings.

Misty,
i can pick up objects and 'read' them in the sense that i can decifer the emotions in the item.. i dont get actual visions as some ppl do, but i get a very basic background.. this of course comes from my empathy.. so i think it would depend on how the object is being read..

I'm glad the post helped. I've been teaching some friends the tarot, and one of the main things I do when teaching them to read the tarot is work with their psychic development as the two really go hand in hand. I found that some of the explanations of the psychic senses were confusing to them, so I broke it down in a way that I felt they could relate to a little better.
As far as the spellings, it's funny you said that because as I typed that out last night I was thinking ... "did I spell that right? I dunno, I'm too tired to look it up ... sure hope they know what I mean" ... lol
Most of you were present when I was trying to spell out Czechoslovakian in class Thursday night and if you actually figured that one out ... this post should be a breeze .. lol
